"Catholicism
in
the Land of Make Believe" continued
Novus Papa
There are another series of Psuedo-catholics
sects arising that have taken play acting to a greater level of
absurdity. They originally were sedevacantists, but a “faithful”
Catholic cannot be satisfied with a Church that has no Pope. So
to resolve the situation once and for all in order to bring the Church
back to its “former glory”, they, “in the name of the Church” crown a
novus papa (new pope). They either claim to have had their own
“conclave” formed from a small group of disgruntled Catholics or that
their pope received the papal title through a “mystical
coronation”. These supposed popes claim to be the real Vicar of
Christ and
they declare that the Vatican is occupied by an antipope (someone who
falsely claims the papal office). These novus papa sects (which
oppose one another) are either awaiting the day when their popes are
given their “rightful” throne in Rome or they believe that the seat of
Church authority has been “celestially transported” to another location
(two groups claim that the Holy See is now in Spain).
Most of these popes’ first act is to denounce
the Second Vatican Council and declare that the “Novus Ordo” (New Mass)
is invalid and that all Catholics who attend Churches that have enacted
post Vatican II directives are in heresy – thus “excommunicating”
everyone who adheres to the teachings and directives of the
“Post-Vatican Church”. Even though the novus papa churches
have excommunicated each other, they generally have three common
“logical” principles. 1.) The “antipope of Rome” whose
election meets the requirements formulated by the Church is
disqualified and declared an “antipope” because this small
self-appointed group of individuals believes that he is a
heretic. 2.) Since the group declared a state of emergency,
they have the right to disregard the Church’s regulations concerning
papal conclaves and hold their own. 3.) Although the
self-proclaimed conclavists are few in number, not being a reasonable
representation of the Church worldwide, they represent the Church
anyway. In the Land of Make Believe, these actions are all viewed
as “God’s way” of ushering in a new era harmony and unity in the
Church.
